Ambi’s Internship Experience

My internship experience crosses everything.

Howdy! My name is Ambiguèle Eriyomi and I just spent one of the best 90 days of my life as an intern working with Mary Job.

Maybe short time but, it was three months of learning, discovery, work, entertainment, doing many great things. Three months of hard work where I was coached, trained as a content writer. (Please note, it was held online.)

When we started, Mary’s first line was: “Ambi, you’re going to download WordPress application and start blogging.” You know that feeling when you’re short in height, and something bigger comes along? You’re terrified.

I was like, what have I gotten myself into. A blog? Did I hear right? Is she serious? Myself?

Yes, I was surprised and very excited at the same time because I never thought that one day I could start blogging in my life even though I love to write. As the saying goes, never say never.

So, no sooner said than done, I put it to the test, and in less than three weeks, my blog was set up. Every day Mary was there with tips and tricks, a lot of challenges. Do this, don’t do that, from building the blog to writing for Social Media to optimizing WPSlay homepages and posts with Search Engines Optimization (SEO) guidelines.

As far as SEO goes, it was no picnic. I encountered so many difficulties, but Mary was always there to guide me.

I used to say that every internship has its peculiarity but working with Mary Job, I discovered another way of coaching and my love for technology. Maybe my next challenge will be coding — Who knows. Honestly, working with her has been to all my advantage.

What did I gain during my internship experience?

First, I discovered WordPress, Slack, Loom, Hootsuite, Canva, Zoho Social, Yoast SEO, HubSpot, Henneke Enchanting Marketing, etc. I learned the importance of always proofreading an article, keeping it short and straightforward. Due to everyday challenges, today I know how to work on pressure.

Finally, I took two online tests for digital and social media marketing on HubSpot — Those courses have been just perfect to close my interning.

Three months ago I only use Technology and Social Media to catch fun but today, I know how to make it work as a tool for my professional empowerment.

  1. Very nice article, Ambi. Well-done. However, I would like to know more about the difference between interning and internship?
