My name is Campbell. I am (12) years old, I am a boy. I am writing an essay about my first coding summer camp which was very successful and it took place in Ijebu Imusin. I live at Ibadan.
It was on the 14th of august when my mummy told me of this summer camp, I was very happy because I wanted to learn things about computer, so I packed all my luggage and waited for my the next day to come. The next day came and I went to Ijebu with my Sister and my Daddy.
When we got there I thought that it was going to be classroom but when I reached there, it was a very fine and big place and they were lot of things to see and do. When I got there they took me to my room where I will stay for the rest of the camp and they gave me food to eat and water to drink. The place was big and spacious.
The coding summer camp is a camp of two weeks and the hub which is also a computer room is located where we camped.
This summer camp is a memorable experience that I will never forget.
I like this summer camp because I learnt about coding and how to go on the internet, I learnt what browsers are and how we use them. I learnt how to type and about the different types of coding languages there are.
Thanks to the summer camp I now know that computers have their own language different from human languages and this computer language we humans do not understand it, but thanks to programming languages, it is understandable. All the things we did here are very good.
At this summer camp we were only four boarding and three day students which makes seven students in total. I am sure that next year we will be more than seven students attending this summer camp because I am definitely coming again.
From Monday to Saturday we have classes but on Sunday we go on outing. I like this summer camp very well because I made many friends and I learnt about coding.
I had not heard of coding before and this was my also my first time going to Ijebu-Imusin. I want to thank all the teachers that taught and participate in the summer camp. I pray that God will provide for them all their needs in Jesus name.
Hi, Campbell! My name is Caspar and I enjoyed reading your report about your summer camp experience a lot.
I live far away in Germany (Europe), but after reading yours and everybody else’s essays, I’m hoping that I will be able to make it to the next coding summer camp, because I know WordPress, but I’d like to learn Python. I may be too old to attend, though. 😊
Best of luck to you, and thank you again for your report, it was a pleasure to read.
Hello! I am glad you are enjoying your summer camp. My first exposure to computers was at a day camp during the summer near my home when I was a kid. I now use computers everyday. It’s fun to use computers to create. Good luck!
Hi Campbell, this is a very nice story and I hope you go on and keep learning. Coding is fun, and gives you the ability to make a significant change in the world.
It may be challenging, don’t give up because it is worth every sweat you break.
Hi Campbell,
Geektutor here again. Thank you for following through with the lessons and writing this report.
I’m proud of you.
Hello Campbell,
I am glad you had a lovely time at the summer camp. Keep practicing what you learned, and developing yourself, and I assure you that you will definitely succeed.
If your dad or your mum uses an Android phone, they can download http://dcoder.tech which lets you practice coding on a phone.
Hope you and your sister can make it next year, and please spread the word to your friends about your time at the camp.
All the best!
Hi Campbell, I’m happy to read that you’re learning so much about computers, the ways they communicate and the languages we use to give them instructions. I hope you’ll be back again for coding camp next year. It’s lovely to hear about your experiences. Well done!
Hello Campbell, it is very inspiring to read your story. For me, I didn’t get a chance to learn about code or computers until I was older so it is a very good opportunity for you.
All the best in your studies!
Alice, Kenya.
Thank you for sharing your story, Campbell! I was your age (12 years old) when I first learned about computers. But that was long before the Internet. Today, you have even more tools available to you than I did way back then!
We’re all grateful to Ms. Mary for creating this opportunity so that you could learn how to code. I can’t wait to see what you create using your new skills! And I hope you continue to study and practice so you can help others to do the same. Never stop learning! 🙂
